The Watson family has been called the "First Family of Hollywood." The nine children of Coy and Golda Watson — Coy, Jr., Vivian, Gloria, Louise, Harry, Bill, Delmar, Garry, and Bobs — appeared in over 1,000 movies in the 1920's, 1930's, and 1940's. After their childhoods in show business, the Watson brothers moved on to the field of photography. They were introduced to photography by their grandfather, James Watson, and their uncle, George R. Watson — the first photographer hired by the Los Angeles Times in 1917. The Watson family has been called "the First Family of News Photography in Los Angeles."

The Watson Family received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in April of 1999. The star is located at 6674 Hollywood Boulevard. They also have an ongoing exhibit at the Hollywood Heritage Museum (Lasky-De Mille Barn) on Highland Avenue north of Hollywood Boulevard. A sample of 93 of the Watson family's vintage pictures is part of the permanent collection of the Getty Museum.
